Normally, twice in the first year of Exam then once every year if you would like to improve the score. There is no limit to the number of attempts.

Do I get any Fee Waiver?
Yes. Partial fee waivers for US citizens and residents, covering 50% of the ADAT fee, are available for eligible examinees facing severe financial hardship.
6: WHAT SCORE IS INTERPRETED?
Three to four weeks after candidates complete the examination, scores are released. The range of ADAT scale scores is between 200 and 800. If you get a higher score in a specific area, it indicates that you have more advanced cognitive skills in that particular area. If you don’t take a test, you will get a score of 200.
How the ADAT score is calculated, based on the information provided in the ADAT User’s Guide
- Raw Score Calculation:
– Each section of the ADAT consists of multiple-choice questions.
– For each section, the number of correct responses is counted. Incorrect or unanswered questions do not contribute to the score.
– This count of correct responses represents the raw score for each section.
- Scaled Score Conversion:
– The raw scores for each section are converted into scaled scores using a formula provided by the ADA.
– The purpose of scaling is to ensure fairness and consistency across different versions of the exam. It accounts for variations in difficulty between different sets of questions.
– The scaled scores range from 0 to 100 for each section.
- Total ADAT Score Calculation:
– The scaled scores for each section (Biomedical Sciences, Clinical Sciences, and Data, Research Interpretation, and Evidence-Based Dentistry) are combined to produce a total ADAT score.
– The total score ranges from 200 to 800, with 500 as the mean and a standard deviation of 100. This means that the majority of test-takers will fall within one standard deviation of the mean (between 400 and 600).
– The total score provides an overall assessment of the candidate’s performance across all sections of the exam.
- Percentile Ranks:
– The ADA provides percentile ranks based on the total ADAT score.
– Percentile ranks indicate the percentage of test-takers who scored lower than a particular candidate.
– For example, a percentile rank of 70 means that the candidate performed better than 70% of test-takers.
Overall, the ADAT score calculation process involves converting raw scores into scaled scores, combining them to derive a total score, and providing percentile ranks for comparative analysis. Do all 200 questions count and score?
The ADAT consists of 200 questions, but not all are used to calculate the examinee’s score. After the data is collected, these questions are analyzed for their statistical performance. If they meet the required standards, they may be included in future test forms to ensure up-to-date content. Candidates cannot differentiate between the questions affecting their score and those not.
7: WHAT IS THE BEST SCORE?
Well the higher the better. However, in general any score above 500 is considered to be a decent one and scores above 600 plus is considered very competitive. Nope. The average score changes every year based on the number of aspirants appearing and their scores. In 2023, 715 aspirants gave exams and the average ADAT Overall (ADAT) score was 486.0.
