Description
What is Supplemental Applications ?
Internationally trained dentists first submit a primary application through CAAPID, which includes their academic records, TOEFL scores, letters of recommendation, a personal statement, and other essential information. This is called Primary application. After submitting the primary CAAPID application, many dental schools will require applicants to complete a supplemental application. This supplemental application is often specific to each institution and may include additional questions, essays, or documentation. The purpose is to gather more detailed information about the applicant’s qualifications, motivations, and how they align with the specific program.
- Additional Essays: Schools may request essays on topics like why you’re interested in their program, your experiences in dentistry, or how you plan to contribute to the dental profession in the U.S.
- Documentation: Some schools might ask for additional documents, such as an updated CV, a photo, or proof of specific dental experiences or certifications.
- Application Fees: Most schools require an additional fee for processing the supplemental application.
- School-Specific Requirements: Each dental school might have unique requirements or questions tailored to their program’s focus, values, or mission. These questions can help the school determine if you’re a good fit for their advanced standing program.
- Deadlines : The supplemental application will have its own deadline, separate from the CAAPID deadline. It’s important to keep track of these deadlines to ensure your application is considered.
